Our approach

RE makes a unique contribution to the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils and supports wider community cohesion.  Our RE teaching is supported by assemblies and events to support the development of understanding and tolerance for other religions and beliefs, such as the Reception Nativity and community Eid event.

Through RE lessons children develop their knowledge and understanding of the religions and beliefs which form the UK’s rich heritage of culture and diversity. The school celebrates the importance of Christianity in this country and all Reception pupils take part in a Nativity production before the end of the autumn term and all pupils enjoy Easter activities.

The religions children are taught about are: Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism.

Children explore many of the fundamentals of these religions such as understanding and visiting the different places of worship; important celebrations and festivals; exploring significant teachings and religious stories.
