Who Was Ada Lovelace?

English mathematician Ada Lovelace, the daughter of famed poet Lord Byron, showed her gift for mathematics at an early age. She translated an article on an invention by Charles Babbage and has been called "the first computer programmer" for writing an algorithm for a computing machine in the mid-1800s.

As a school, we encourage our pupils to be inspired by the achievements of Ada Lovelace by celebrating 'Ada Lovelace Day' annually and referencing her accomplishments within our daily teaching and provision.
