Languages

Learning a foreign language is an opening to other cultures and deepens understanding of the world. Language lessons are taught from Reception, where children are introduced to eachother's languages.  In Key Stage 1 children are taught to communicate simple greetings and concepts orally.  In Key Stage 2 children learn to express ideas and thoughts in another language and to understand and respond to its speakers in speech and in writing.

Currently, Spanish is being studied in Key Stage 1.  Key Stage 2 children are studying Mandarin Chinese.  Lessons are taught by specialist teachers.
